New York Giants general manager Dave Gettleman took to the podium on Feb. 27 to address the media during the NFL combine. Someone asked about the rumors swirling around star wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr., whom the Giants signed to a five-year, $90 million extension in August 2018. “We didn’t sign Odell to trade him,” Gettleman said. “That’s all I need to say about that.”
Thirteen days later, the Giants traded Beckham to the Cleveland Browns for first- and third-round picks and safety Jabrill Peppers. To my knowledge, nothing changed in those 13 days. Beckham appears to have all of his extremities intact. The NFL did not ban the forward pass. The Giants traded Olivier Vernon for Kevin Zeitler and let Landon Collins leave in free agency, but they didn’t suddenly build a time machine and bring 1987 Jerry Rice through a portal and into Giants colors.– Bill Barnwell
After 5 years of loud-mouthing, screaming at the refs, complaining about everything, and like one decent catch on SNF (that they lost) Odell Beckham Jr’s Reign of terror in the NFC East is finally over.
In a monster trade with the up-and-coming Cleaveland Browns, The New York Football Giants traded away not only one of the best wide receivers in the game for a first rounder, a third rounder and a halfway decent safety.
I’m so glad OBJ is finally out of the east. I hated playing him twice a year. I hated that whole dramatics with the kicking net. I hated his hair. I hated watching that stupid catch (in a game they lost) sixteen times every game. I hate everything about the dude.
Adios OBJ, I hate that I actually like the Browns. Don’t ruin Baker.
Let’s Go Dallas.
