Here we go folks, 2020 Roadrunner Football is upon us, sort of, we still have quite a while till the Tigers and us get to dance, but we took a much needed first step today, we know when and where the games are happening. I’ll highlight the five I’m most interested in.
September 5 LSU We open the year against the probable National Champions in Death Valley, that’ll be a long day, we’re all well aware of that but it’s always nice to go visit a new historic stadium such as the one at LSU. In the words of Garth Brooks, I’m Callin Baton Rouge.
September 12 Texas State The next week we’ll play the pussycats up I-35 in what has the potential to be the best game in the history of the rivalry. Coach Traylor could really make his mark in the two schools storied history if he can put the bobcats in a box, and give them a real beating.
November 7 Rice Last year Rice gave us the best game we’ve seen from the Owls in the past few seasons. All season long I called them the best bad team in America and they kept proving me right with close games against Army and Baylor and eventually beating UNT later in conference play.
November 14 UTEP The Miners and the Roadrunners always have a good time when we play against each other. Either its the “Curse of the Home Team” or UTSA getting their first conference win of the season these two teams are always exciting to watch on the field together.
November 28 UNT This game will mean a lot to me. It will be my final home game as a student, hopefully, they bless us with a bowl game so its not the last game, but who knows what will happen. UNT has been a thorn in my side ever since I got to UTSA, the Mean Green and Mason Fine have done nothing but break my heart and my spirit these past three years. Now that Fine is graduated, and Coach Jeff Traylor is the new captain of the ship, things could finally work in my favor. It’s Thanksgiving weekend, it’s the last home game of the year, and it’s UNT what more could I want from UTSA football? A conference Championship and a Bowl win but let’s not get ahead of ourselves.
For the first time in a long time, I am genuinely excited about UTSA Football, a new outlook on how we do things as Roadrunners. I can’t wait for September, Go Runners.
