UFC 249 is official, Gaethje-Ferguson headline.

It is now official, UFC 249 will be happening on April 18th from the Tachi Palace Casino Resort in Lemoore, California. I know that all sporting events are suppose to not be happening in the state of California but since this is Native American tribal land, Dana White was able to secure the venue for the fights and what a card we have. Khabib is out which sucks but we get quite the consolation prize with Justin Gaethje battling Tony Ferguson in the main event for the interim lightweight title. If you aren’t familiar with Justin Gaethje, this is how he made his UFC debut.
Now his opponent is nicknamed “El Cucuy” which means the bogeyman. Tony Ferguson is an absolute beast, he fights everyone in a blood and guts type battle until the match ends. Just watch this match against Anthony Pettis where he gets dropped and puts a savage beating on Pettis over the course of the fight.
That’s just the main event of a star studded pay per view card. Also on the card is the rematch between former UFC Strawweight Champion Rose Namajunas facing Jessica Andrade who defeated her by literally dropping her on her head via a slam to win the title almost one year ago. Add in two of the most action packed welterweights in Vicente Luque doing battle against Niko Price in another rematch and the return of maybe the scariest human being in the UFC in Francis Ngannou going up against undefeated heavyweight Jairzinho Rozenstruik in what should be a stand up fire fight for however long it lasts and we got quite the card.
Make sure to tune in to Talkin Hands next Friday where we preview the card from a gambling perspective where myself and Jeff Slaughter give you our picks and best bets. Thank you Dana White for giving us some entertainment during this Coronavirus and everyone stay safe out there.
