We have very little to wet our whistles with right now from a betting perspective, but weekends are something to look forward to. We have wall to wall racing at Gulfstream, Tampa and Oaklawn in Arkansas. Here are a few spots I like today.
RACE 5 at Gulfstream Park: I really like the 6 here Lashara trained by Mark Casse. She is the daughter of American Pharaoh and opens at 8/1. There is absolutely no shot she runs at that price. Pharaoh runners have been tremendous bets on the turf and I was excited at the prospect that this filly would get her shot, and she gets it today. In a training session at Palm Meadows training facility recently, she ran very well on the turf and I like the spot a lot here. It also helps he gets Luis Saez on the mount. BET: 6 to win
RACE 13 at Gulfstream Park: My favorite bet of the day is on the 9 here, Twenty Four Seven trained by the great Saffie Joseph Jr. Saffie has had an unbelievable last year or so and his runners off the claim have been as close to must bets as you get. OFF the claim he’s won at a 40 percent rate which is wildly effective. Until he cools off I will be betting these runners. Love this horse and we also get the very reliable Luis Saez riding today. BET: 9 to win
