The King has returned: The San Antonio Spurs hire Tim Duncan as Assistant Coach

Written by on July 22, 2019

I was in the middle of writing a “UTSA athletes as MCU characters” but that can wait for tomorrow.

Timothy Theodore Duncan has just been announced as the newest assistant coach for the Greatest Franchise in the NBA. Your San Antonio Spurs.

This means more years of being the best franchise in sports, more Larry O’Briens, more years of loving every second of life!

The only way to explain things like this is that God himself is a San Antonio Spurs fan, that Jesus, Mary, and Joseph are San Antonio Natives, that all the Angels and Saints are Baseline Bums!

Let the George Strait Play, let the Big Red flow down the River Walk, and let the Honking begin, Timmy is employed by the Spurs again.

I told Austin this many moons ago, “In your time as a Spurs fan you’ll realize that there is no better NBA team to root for. There’s nothing in the world that I’d rather be than a Spurs Fan.”

The consequences of this move are fantastic. Not only do we have one of the all-time greats on our staff, but we also have the guy that was drafted by, coached by, won, lost, and grew with Gregg Popovich. If there is a perfect disciple of Pop its Tim.

I know we still have three years to worry about retirement, but as of right now its a split decision between Timmy and Becky. Would I prefer Tim? Of course, but Becky is no joke. Either option is the best of what “The Spurs Way” has to offer, so there’s no where to go but up.

Five More Championships, 50 more years of relevance, and we’ll STILL never miss the playoffs!

As I said all season.

We ain’t back. We never left.
