The Finality of the Process

“The Process”- a now 6 year strategy to let go of existing talent in order to lose games to get high draft picks to build the roster up with youth to attract marquee free agents. It all has led to this. Game 7. The Philadelphia 76ers have built the roster for this point in time, to go on the road and defeat the Toronto Raptors to finally close the door on the process. As a team, you don’t make the moves to acquire Jimmy Butler and Tobias Harris during the season without championship in mind and this is the time for the team to win that big game. For Ben Simmons and Joel Embiid, the backbone of the process, they can erase all the skepticism thrown onto them from a multitude of media outlets and have the defining moment of their young careers. A one-legged Embiid should still be able to get 20 and 10 on Gasol and Simmons has to go off. The constant harboring of fans that gives these players a pass when they come up short in the biggest of moments doesn’t make sense. To quote Kanye West, “This is what you’ve all been waiting for, ain’t it?” Let’s see Ben and Joel be the superstars they are constantly lauded as being because this game win or lose signals the end of the process.
