The Best Football Team In The Big Ten This Year Won’t Be In Michigan Or Ohio

by Pub Sports Radio Admin

It’s almost July and we inch closer and closer to pigskin. I’m almost tired of the heat already and dying for some football. Lets talk Big Ten and to be honest, I’m super excited for this conference this year. It looks as if the domination of the Buckeyes might subside and with big time offensive weapons and great QB play this conference isn’t mostly a 17-14 kinda game league anymore. Guys like Rondale Moore and Jonathan Taylor highlight a different swag and explosiveness to this conference, one we haven’t seen in awhile if ever.

Today though, I wanna give you my pick to win it and why.. and no I’m not picking Michigan. Ohio State or Michigan State… I’m going with the Cornhuskers of Nebraska. One of the reasons i’m pumped for this group is the future that Adrian Martinez is going to have. This kid is fast, talented and electric and we saw last year his elusiveness and ability to make plays. Head coach Scott Frost said in the off season basically that he believes Martinez has the potential to be the greatest QB in school history. This team is talented on offense and will only get better behind Martinez and a really good offensive line. Martinez must and will get better throwing the football in the second year which is what has everyone so excited about to go along with hus running ability. Also look out for number 1 recruit Wan’dale Robinson to make an immediate impact in the slot. He was Mr Football in Kentucky and might be shiftiest player in America who has the ability to make a Rondale Moore type of impression.

I know you’re probably thinking but what about the defense and yeah, its a legitimate question. Last year Nebraska struggled to get stops, but coming back this year they have a strong experienced DL and the secondary that’s all juniors and seniors. They will continue to make strides. Mohammed Barry is one of the best LB’s in the country, a tackling machine and a guy on defense that holds them together.

I’ve talked before about scheduling and its importance to navigating conference futures and win totals. The Cornhuskers have a dream scenario setting up with it this year. They avoid Michigan and Michigan State, plus get Ohio State, Iowa, Wisconsin and Northwestern all in Lincoln. With only 5 games on the road all year including 2 at Maryland and Illinois, you couldn’t ask for a better schedule. I see 10 wins.. yeah i said it 10 wins.

It all sets up really well for the Huskers and Scott Frost, a proven winner that has had a full year+ and has mostly his guys in place. Plus we know what top team in the east Michigan does… shit on their leg when the games mean the most. Add in a lot of new faces and a subpar defense with Urban Mayer less Ohio State and give me Nebraska at 15/1 all day to win the conference. Too me that’s value like you rarely see. I know its bold and crazy but Scott Frost a winner.

Final record prediction… 10-2
