We did better last week, not by a whole lot, but a 2-3 record brings us to 3-7 for the year and are in a desperate need of a 5-0 week. Will this be the week? Here’s hoping.
Packers -7.5 over Broncos
I am not a Green Bay Packer fan but this is the stereotypical Rodgers’ game where he throws for 300 yards and 3 touchdowns and blows the doors off an inferior opponent at Lambeau Field. Denver hasn’t shown me anything this year and Flacco just can’t get out of his own way. Add in the fact that Green Bay finally has above average defensive play for the first time in forever and I just can’t see Denver keeping this game close. Packers win going away.
Vikings -8.5 over Raiders
Oakland is in rough shape; they got that pick me up win on Monday Night Football week one against the Broncos. However, they just don’t have the offensive weapons to keep it close against a Vikings team hellbent on getting a home victory. Minnesota has advantages everywhere on the field and with perhaps no Tyrell Williams will make life miserable for the Raiders’ offense against a very good Minnesota defense. Vikings roll to get us our second win.
Cowboys -21.5 over Dolphins
Miami is a dumpster fire. They just traded one of their only decent assets in Minkah Fitzpatrick to the Steelers for a 1st round pick to rebuild apparently. On the other hand, Dallas is on a roll. They could just hand the ball to Zeke 30 times this game and we all know Miami won’t put up more than 14 points in this game. Yes 21.5 is a lot of points to lay but Dallas at home against this inferior opponent is no contest. Cowboys dominate this game as Miami struggles to put any points on the board.
Chiefs -6.5 over Ravens
Kansas City is the better team. Baltimore has beaten up on dysfunctional teams the last two weeks in the Dolphins and Cardinals and here’s the kicker: Kyler Murray moved the ball at will against Baltimore who was down two cornerbacks. If that’s the case in this game being the home opener for Kansas City and Mahomes can make a high school team look good, Baltimore will struggle to go score for score in Kansas City. Plus getting this game under 7 points is huge, Kansas City wins by at least a touchdown to get us that fourth win.
Texans +3 over Chargers
Houston is better than the Chargers. Los Angeles has been heavily reliant on Austin Ekeler and Keenan Allen and I like the Texans’ defense to get after Rivers and hold them. Add in Deshaun Watson being able to roll out and hit Hopkins over the top against the Chargers’ secondary who struggled to contain Detroit’s passing attack and Houston will just take it to them on the road. Add in the lack of home crowd advantage and getting the points, I love Houston in this spot. The Texans get us to 5-0 for the week and we are right back in the thick of things.
