Lee Ji-eun, better known as IU, will be starring in a new Netflix series called “Persona” that will be available worldwide in April. “Persona” will be made up of four different short stories directed by four different critically acclaimed directors with four different main characters, all played by IU.
The four different stories are as followed: “Love Set,” “Collector,” “Kiss Burn,” and “Walking at Night.” Lee Kyung-mi, recipient of the “Best New Director” as well as the “Best New Screenplay” awards at the Blue Dragon Film Awards in 2008, will be directing the first short story “Love Set.” The story will cover two women engaged in an intense tennis match. Im Pil-sung, who also has experience in acting, writing, producing, and editing in addition to directing, will be in charge of “Collector” which is about a beautiful young woman (played by IU) who gets every man she dates to lay out all of their feelings to her. The third short film “Kiss Burn” will follow with the story of a bold young girl who takes revenge on her friend’s patriarchal father. The third film will be directed by Jeon Go-woon, who is the recipient of the “Grand Bell Award” for Best New Director among others. To close out the series, “Walking at Night” will delve into the internal feelings of a couple during their ethereal meeting, which will be directed by Kim Jong-kwan, who is known for and acclaimed for his short narratives.
This will be the first time IU will be working with Netflix, but she has been cast in numerous incredibly popular Korean dramas throughout her career, including: “Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryo,” “Dream High,” and most recently “My Mister.”
