It’s 2:00 AM on a Sunday morning, I just finished taking notes on the panel as a whole and I have a few sparattic thoughts before I start this blog.
I love the original 6 Avengers actors so much. Any time spent watching Jeremy, ScarJoe, and Chris play Hawkeye, Natasha and Thor is time well spent.
I love the characters and actors we’ve met before. Anthony Mackie is awesome, Tom Hiddleson is always incredible Sebastian Stan is so lovable. Pretty much any time an actor that we already know walked onto the stage I felt the way you feel on Christmas Day when you see the family you haven’t seen in a while.
I love the new actors playing the new characters. Every single one of them seemed so genuinely happy to be apart of this wonderful thing and all of them know EXACTLY what is at stake.
Endgame was merely the beginning of what this studio has to offer. There is so much more to come and all that Endgame and Far From Home did was up the ante on the whole thing. The stakes are so much higher than they were before. Every movie, joke, death, basically every frame from here on out matters, but if there’s one company that I trust to do it right its Marvel.
Now onto the panel itself. I’ll try to stick to the way Kevin introduced them but since I had to watch it in bits and pieces I might be a bit off.
The Eternals November 6, 2020
If you arent at these sorts of panels you usually don’t get to see the clips until someone leaks it so I never really see any trailers, but The Eternals looks incredible. Marvel is really trying to diversify in its movies and it is very apparent in this film. The Eternals is a movie about immortal aliens living on Earth who protect and save mankind, pretty normal stuff. What makes this movie so cool is the differences in actors in the film and the wide range of acting styles that come from it. A very cool part to me is that Makkari played by Lauren Riddloff will be Marvel’s first deaf character, she owns this part and signed her responses the entire time. I loved that so much. As I’ve stated before I will pretty much watch every marvel movie that is made for the rest of my life and this movie is no different. I don’t know much about The Eternals but I also didn’t know much about the Guardians of the Galaxy and now they are arguably my favorite franchise in the whole MCU, so I’m all in on The Eternals.
ALSO, SALMA HAYEK AND ANGELINA JOLIE ARE IN IT SO YEAH.
The Falcon and The Winter Soldier
This is the first thing at the panel that is going to be on Disney’s streaming service Disney+. (Tweet at Jeff to buy this for me. @Slauterhaus1) I was slightly hesitant to the idea but the more I think about it the more excited i get about it. But this blog isn’t about Disney+, Its about Phase 4.
First, Mackie and Stan have such great chemistry. They obviously love their characters but this chemistry is just so organic.. Throughout the course of the Panel, it was extremely apparent that the Avengers went out for drinks before it started cause Anthony Mackie was feeling good. The playful energy between the two of them is pretty much enough to get me on the hook for this show. Now, I’m not great with the marvel shows, but these characters are already beloved so I’m all in on TFATWS.
Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten RIngs February 12, 2021
Let it be said that I know very little about this character. However, this cast and this director looked so excited to be working with such a great company. Probably the coolest part about this movie announcement is the fact that the “Ten Rings” have literally been in the MCU since Iron Man 1. While they were making the announcement they flashed through multiple times throughout the MCU where the Order of the Ten rings where in the MCU. They talked about how the “Mandarin” from Iron Man 3 was an imposter and how they cast a new actor to play the real Mandarin. The MCU does lesser known characters so well there’s no way they mess up this movie.
WandaVision Spring 2021
We have another Disney+ show and honestly, there are no duds when it comes to these show announcements. During the announcement, Elizabeth Olsen (Scarlet Witch) and Paul Bettany (Vision) stressed how weird this show is going to be. This show is going to take place in a post Endgame world so at the beginning Vision is very dead. So there will be some serious time-line trickery afoot. Also, they said many MCU Characters will make an appearance in the show, so expect some big names to show up on the show. Finally, Monica Rambeau, the little girl from Captain Marvel will be a main character on this show. Played by Tenoya Parris this character will tie together pretty far ends of the MCU. This show stresses weirdness so, expect weirdness i guess?
Loki Spring 2021
Loki is easily one of the most beloved characters in the MCU, and Tom HIddleson is easily one of its most beloved actors. When Hiddleson walked on the stage I almost started crying because he’s such an important part to this whole thing and basically anything he’s in is going to be great. Its another Disney+ show, and it will take place in the timeline where Loki takes the Tesseract from the end of the new Avengers 1 timeline in Endgame. Loki in the seires isn’t going to be the wiser better generally better person than he was at the beginning of Infinity War, he’s the lying, back-stabbing, trickster god he was when we first encountered him. Needless to say, I’m excited, but Loki is just such a great character that I’m going to say it anyways. I’m Excited.
Doctor Strange 2: Multiverse of Madness
I wasn’t crazy about Doctor Strange, I liked the movie, but I didnt really like him that much. I really didn’t like him until his cameo in Ragnorok, by that time he wasnt such a whiny know it all and was really humbled after the whole Dormanu thing. NOw that we’ve seen him a few more times since then hes become a very likeable character and seeingBenedict on stage was like seeing an Original 6 member.
Any ways, this movie does a few very cool things: 1. It cinfirms the multiverse, which means we’ll probably see a Spider-Man Multiverse movie eventually, 2. It will be Marvel’s first “scary” movie. Im really excited to see how they do this because Cumberbatch stated that they will keep the humor that is so essential to the Marvel Universe so expect very interesting things.
Dr. Strange is such an important character since the events of Endgame, he bassicly called the shot, he’s the one that gave us the hope that things would work out and he deserves a front seat in Phase 4.
Furthermore Benedict Cumberbatch is easily as charismatic as Hiddleson, we just dont know him as much.
What If? Summer 2021
I love the “What If?” comic series. It explores things that could have happened, its fun and they get to take chances that normal plot lines wouldn’t have the guts to do.
The “What If?” series will be Marvel Studios’ first animated venture, but thats not even the best part.
The best part is that LITERALLY DOZENS of MCU actors are going to voice their characters in the show, Paul Rudd, Elizabeth Olsen, and so many others are reprising their roles in animated form.
The show will be narrated by the character known as The Watcher, an all-seeing, celestial being, voiced by a personal favorite cause of his work in Hunger Games Jeffery Wright.
Hawkeye Fall 2021
Let this part beguin with the simple phrase “I love Jeremy Renner”
So here it is.
I LOVE JEREMY RENNER.
He just gets this character so well. He loves what hawkeye is and what he stand for. He understands the character’s past his present and his future. He get’s how much he loves his family, both blood and Avengers. The same way RDJ was born to be Iron Man Jeremy Renner was born to be Hawkeye.
So Hawkeye will be another Disney+ show, Kate Bishop will be in it and that’s basically all we know about it.
Honestly, this show could be horrible, but I’ll watch all of it.
Thor: Love and Thunder
I’m on the record as not loving Ragnorok. Let me explain why. I don’t like the way they used music, I don’t like how they wasted away the Planet Hulk storyline, and I wasn’t crazy about the overuse of color. It felt like I was watching GOTG. However, I do like the “New Thor” I love Valkyrie, and I LOVE Korg. There’s a lot of really cool things that came out of Ragnorok, I just don’t love it as much as everyone else does.
That being said I’m very excited about Love and Thunder. The logo looks awesome, Chris Hemsworth is just so freaking great and I love Thor pretty much always. What really got me hooked on L&T is the fact that oUR QUEEN NATALIE PORTMAN IS BACK. We saw a piece of her in Endgame so there was reason to believe Jane Foster was going to make a comeback, but little did we know that LADY THOR was going to take the big screen.
I want so badly to love this movie so I’ll go in with an open mind. I’ll even let “Immagrant Song” slide if it plays, once.
This is the moment we’ve all been waiting for. Natasha’s story finally gets told. We finally get to see some backstory, and hopefully, we find out just what makes The Widow, The Widow.
David Harbor, known for his part as an all American Sherrif in one of my favorite shows, Stranger Things, is playing a Russian named (hehe) and that’s pretty much all we know about him. There’s also a new character named Yalana, who will act as a sister figure to Natasha, and there’s even a new romantic person in play.
I said this in the beginning, any time an Original 6 actor is playing their Character is must watch content.
They had a little ending pow wow to close out the panel, everyone who had come out during the course of the panel came back out (with Black widow hats on ah). We get one last look at the timeline, and then Uncle Kevin went on a RAMPAGE of announcements and hints.
He confirms Black Panther 2, which I’m extremely excited about, Guardians 3, which is probably one of my favorite franchises in the whole MCU, and Captain Marvel 2 which is sure to excite.
For me though arguably the best part is when he says the Fantastic Four are coming. This announcement is so great and I cant wait to see what they do with it.
Then he says Mutants are coming, which means X-Men.
I loved the Fox X-men series, but the MCU will just do it better.
At the very end of the panel they announced Marhashala Ali will be playing Blade in the upcoming film.
All in all, the Marvel Hall H panel held up to the hype that they set so many years ago.
Marvel Studious cares so much about the stories they are telling, and the actors are so grateful to be in the position they are. They have done such a good job in this “modern Mythmaking” and the morals and ideals they represent are so massively important. The new age of marvel is diverse, it’s big, it’s fresh, and it’s bold. I will watch anything this company produces for the rest of my life.
In the immortal words of Tony Stark:
God, what a world. Universe, now. If you told me ten years ago that we weren’t alone, let alone, you know, to this extent, I mean, I wouldn’t have been surprised, but come on.
I love the MCU, and I can’t wait to see where we go from here.
