I’ve talked candidly before about win totals. I’m not a huge fan of them mainly because of having to wait months to cash in and they have little value long term. If i’m going to invest in something for 6 months plus I need a really really good return. However in doing tons of work and prep for college football, I found one that I’m very interested in. I’m all in on the LIBERTY FLAMES OVER 5.5
A lot of win totals in college clearly have to do with schedule, returning starters and more. I don’t need to tell anyone that. In 2018, Liberty won 6 games, but due to not being eligible for a bowl they missed out. Now as a full fledged FBS member with 12 starters returning I love them to achieve that pinnacle and more. in the offseason they moved on from Turner Gill and welcome in Hugh Freeze as leader of this football team. Freeze an offensive innovator should have plenty of weapons at his disposal to be creative and function at a high level. Returning signal caller is Buckshot Calvert who had a terrific year last at QB with over 3000 yards and 21 TD’s. He will have back his big time RB Frankie Hickson back and top wideout Antonio Gandy-Golden who had 10 TD last year. For an offense that was 34th in the country in points per game they should be all that and more.
On defense the Flames return 6 starters and 10 of there 11 defensive starters are juniors or seniors. This team has been together a long time and it’s time for a swan song and getting to a bowl game. They must improve on the defensive side of the ball, luckily they can’t be much worse and show signs of a big change.
Lastly this schedule is terrific and should make for plenty of wins. Hampton, Maine, UMASS, and New Mexico State x2 should at WORST be 4 wins if not 5. They will be a favorite in most cases, a big favorite in. They have toss up games against Louisiana, a rebuilding Buffalo team and Rutgers. I see 6 wins at worst. This win total is a jewel you have to grab and feel good about, separate some of your bankroll and be a Liberty Flame fan for awhile.
