As the day unwinds, I sat back and thought of all this great content we are going to be getting this upcoming weekend as fight fans on television. Adrien Broner vs Manny Pacquiao, TJ Dillashaw vs Henry Cejudo, a Bryant Jennings heavyweight bout and a title defense from Demetrius Andrade at MSG, how much better can it get? Well, unless you are subscribed to ESPN +, DAZN and willing to fork over the 74.99 Pay Per View price tag of Broner vs Pacquiao, the only bouts you will be watching are a 4 fight preliminary card of the TJ Dillashaw event on ESPN. The absurdity of it all, sure ESPN + is only an extra 5 dollars a month and DAZN is only 10 more dollars on top of that but why pay for cable then? Oh that’s right to watch the FS1 cards that PBC puts out on a monthly basis that are usually more evenly matched compared to this weekends Pacquiao bout. The hope is with the UFC’s deal with ESPN that eventually we as consumers will be able to turn on the television and be able to see MMA and boxing become the cultural norm that football and basketball currently is. However, until that day happens, we as fight fans have to accept the extra charges cause at least it’s not some terrible reality television show. Shamless plug but make sure you tune in to Talkin Hands every Friday night at 10 PM on PubSportsRadio for my thoughts on these upcoming fights live from Southtown 101 and all the other happenings in the world of boxing and MMA.
