Seems like just yesterday we were starting yet another Summer League and just like that it’s over. Another 2-0 day on Sunday to bring me to 14-7 overall 67% for +6.30u
Lets finish it out with one more winner and get ready for football…here’s what i’m going with:
Timberwolves ML (-120) vs Grizzlies- I’ve been on Minnesota basically this entire tournament. I said yesterday I believed they’d win it and here they are. They are one of the deepest teams in this thing and I thing its the difference tonight. First things first, the last 2 nights in the playoffs, they’ve been able to beat two really good teams without major contributions from Keita Bates Diop and Josh Okogie. In fact, last night vs the Nets, Okogie sat out as a precaution. He may or may not play tonight, but either way I’ve loved what i’ve seen from the rest of this group. Former USC standout Jordan Mcglaughin has been a fine replacement. Naz Reid, Jordan Murphy and Mitch Creek continue to be terrific on the block and Keita Bates Diop has been the catalyst. The Grizzlies are here in the final after an OT win last night against the Pelicans. They blew a big 2nd half lead and were the beneficiaries of a big turnover late in that game to win it. I don’t love the guard play for Memphis, and I think Minny has the bigs to handle Brandon Clarke and Bruno Cabocolo, after dealing with Jarrett Allen last night. The Twolves are giving up just 79.7 ppg in 6 Summer League games and have only allowed one team to score more than 90 points. Former NBAer Pablo Prigioni has done a magnificent job as the Summer League coach for the Wolves. All in all Minny is the better team and more equipped to handle a third game in 3 days. They win the Summer League title as I cap off another winning Summer League season.
